CREATE A NATURAL AND RELAXED STYLE FOR YOUR HAIR USING HAIR WAX

Hair wax helps you finish your look with a relaxed yet stylish and natural appearance. It also allows for easy restyling throughout the day without hardening like gel. Men’s hair waxes, pomades, and gels are typically well suited for short barber-style haircuts and often feature a masculine scent, but they can be used for all hair types and by anyone, regardless of gender.

Shiny or matte wax?

Matte waxes work well for everyone, but they’re especially flattering for fine Nordic hair. They create a light matte layer on the hair’s surface that doesn’t harden and stays restylable as long as the wax maintains its hold. The matte finish also makes hair appear thicker.

Fiber waxes also usually provide a matte finish, but they contain added fibers that give extra hold, strength, and make detailed styling easier.

Shiny waxes are ideal for those who want more shine and a slightly more polished look. When using glossy waxes, the amount and even application require a bit more precision than with matte waxes to avoid a greasy appearance. Many shiny waxes have a texture similar to traditional pomades.

The hold and strength of hair wax can range from light to very firm, but the final result also depends on whether you apply it to damp or dry hair. Applying matte wax to damp hair gives a slightly shinier finish and a firmer hold, but the hairstyle becomes less reworkable. The drier the hair, the more natural-looking the matte finish will be.

STYLE A CLASSIC, SLEEK, AND SHINY LOOK USING GEL OR A RESTYLABLE POMADE

Traditional pomades are known as creamy hair styling products that create sleek, polished hairstyles with a greasy, moldable, and shiny finish. Their origins date back to the early 1900s, but they’ve recently made a comeback for shaping vintage-inspired hairstyles. Pomades are typically made with ingredients such as petroleum jelly, various fragrances, waxes, and mineral oils these give them their heavy texture and glossy finish that stays in the hair for a long time. When choosing a pomade, consider how heavy it feels in your hair, how it smells, the level of hold it provides, how much shine it creates, how easily it washes out, and how stiff a finish it gives. Traditional pomades should be used sparingly on fine, Nordic hair. To wash them out, it’s best to use a deep-cleansing shampoo.

Modern water-based pomades differ significantly in texture from traditional ones. They can be used for similar hairstyles or slightly more relaxed looks, even though they are lighter, easier to use, and much simpler to wash out. However, the result isn’t as greasy or long-lasting as styles created with classic oil-based pomades. Whichever product you prefer, a quality comb and some hair tonic or texturizing spray will help you shape and perfect your hairstyle.

Gels create a shiny, firm finish on the hair. Unlike pomades, they don’t allow for restyling the hairstyle becomes stiff and set in place. Gels are especially well-suited for slicked-back styles and more polished looks.
